A Look Back at the Accomplishments of 2024 and Future Plans for 2025
The Park Shore Annual Meeting, held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 4:00 pm at the Naples United Church of Christ, was a resounding success with a turnout so large that it was standing room only. Our esteemed guest speakers included the newly appointed Naples City Manager Gary Young, Chief of Police Ciro Dominguez, and Fire Chief Phillip Pennington, each contributing their insights and updates.
Outgoing President Michelle McCleod provided a detailed overview of the association’s accomplishments in 2024. Among the highlights were:
- The inaugural Naples City Council Candidates Forum.
- Development of a new, user-friendly website.
- Introduction of an online credit card system for member renewals.
- Digitalization of association documents.
- Hiring of Christian Andrea as the designer for the park restoration project.
Treasurer Laura Oscher presented a report on the year’s capital expenditures. Key investments included:
- Installation of a new roof for the bath house.
- Implementation of a new security camera on the bath house.
- Extensive refurbishment of the concrete benches.
- Addition of a parking security officer to safeguard the parking lot during peak times.
- Installation of pavers in front of the benches.
A significant part of the meeting was the approval of the amended bylaws and the election of new board members. The following individuals were elected to three-year terms on the Board of Directors: John Kraft, Karen Rowan, Joy Salatich, and Marcy Kramp.
Incoming President Nancy Walkenhorst concluded the meeting with a forward-looking discussion on the association’s plans for 2025. The primary focus will be on developing a comprehensive plan to restore the beach park in harmony with the evolving plans of the surrounding condominiums.
The Park Shore Annual Meeting was not only a celebration of the past year’s achievements but also a promising glimpse into the future.
